Dr. Fahamu Pecou has mined media and visual culture to explore and subvert Black male masculinity. Through paintings & drawings, Pecou employs the stereotypes and popular culture around Black men's bodies to critically engage the impact of these depictions. In "Of Crowns and Kings: Behind the Seen, we reveal many of the behind the scenes process images that inform Pecou's practice. Each of the artist's projects begins with carefully orchestrated photo sessions & edited down to a select few.
